This is the garden (Kyari) dedicated to Uddhava, the dear cousin of lord Krishna and is located within the Kadamba groves within the area of forest belonging to Vishakha Sakhi (friend). When Krishna had left Vrindavan and moved to Mathura, all the people of Braj including gopis and his cowherd friends were deeply affected by the intense feeling of separation from Lord Krishna and were leading life as there were no colours left in their life. Realizing the pathetic condition of the people of Vrindavan, Krishna sent his dear cousin Uddhava to console them along with his message to get the knowledge of Almighty from Uddhava. It is here at this place in Uddhava Kyari that Uddhava met Gopis (cowherd maiden) and Radharani and read them the message from Krishna. Listening to Krishna’s message for them, Sri Radharani and other Gopis were so much absorbed in the ecstatic feeling of divine and pure love for Krishna that they entered the state of Maha bhava (highest level of spiritual devotion for god). Uddhava was completely moved after seeing this true love and devotion of Radharani and Gopis for Lord Krishna and understood the essence of pure love. He was so much influenced by this pure love and devotion of Gopis that he desired to become the creeper in the forest of Vrindavan smearing dust of Gopis and Radharani’s lotus feet onto his forehead. Lord Krishna pleased with Uddhava’s penances blessed him to become the grass near to Kusuma Sarovar thus, trampled by the lotus feet of Gopis and Radharani when they come to pick flowers at Kusuma Sarovar. Near to Uddhava Kyari there is a small lake named as Uddhava Kund. Within the forest groves of Vishakha Devi there is another Kund known as Vishakha Kund.
