Sri Radha Rasbihari Ashtasakhi temple located near Sri Banke Bihari temple is the only temple dedicated to the divine couple of Radha and Krishna along with the eight sakhis (girlfriends) of Sri Radharani who were the eternal part of the lovable pastimes of Radha and Krishna. There is mention of these eight girlfriends of Sri Radharani in the famous Hindu epic of Bhagvata Gita. The temple was built and the presiding deities of the temple were installed by Maharaja Ramranjan Chakravarti of Hetampur and his wife Padmasundari in 1296 A.D. These eight sakhis of Sri Radharani are named as: Tungavidya, Sudevi, Lalita, Vishakha, Chitra, Indulekha, Champakalata and Rangadevi. Inside the temple sanctorum on the main altar, the deities of Sri Radha Rasbihari stand in between flanked by the beautiful deities of eight sakhis (girlfriends), four standing on either side.
